Airborne’s USA Gymnastics Teams Wrap up Successful Season at State Meets
Over 30 young athletes from Airborne Gymnastics & Dance in Longmont, CO recently competed in the Level 4, 5 & 6 State Gymnastics Meet competitions. The Airborne athletes qualified for the state meet by scoring above performance standards at one of the several meets that they competed in throughout the fall. The State competition included all of the best gymnasts throughout Colorado. The Level 4 team (8-11 year old girls) competed in State at Denver University’s Hamilton Gymnasium on Dec. 13/14. The Level 5 team (8-11 year old girls) in Berthoud on Dec. 6/7. The Level 6 team (9-11 Year old girls) in Northglen on Nov. 22.
Top finishers at State representing Airborne include:
Amelia Sears, 1st in All-around and Floor (Level 4, age 9)
Megan Schluckebier, 1st in Bars (Level 4, age 10)
Rachel Hasting, 1st in All-around and Bars (Level 5, age 11)
Ila Katechis, 1st in Bars (Level 5, age 10)
Emily Glynn, 1st in All-around, Vault and Beam (Level 6, age 9)
Talia Busnardo, 1st in Beam (Level 6, age 11)
Coaches Danielle Ferguson, Paul Comstedt, Allic Pomper, and Laura Amaya have been working very hard this year with the athletes developing their skills. They have conveyed their love and passion for gymnastics to the young girls. This passion has translated into hard work ethic and improvement throughout the season. Next up for the gymnasts is building strength and learning new skills throughout the winter and spring with the goal of moving up to the next level. Some of these girls will eventually compete in High School, College or possibly on a national level.
